I can't even tell you how many tinted SPFs I've tried over the years. Either they felt greasy, left a white cast, felt cake-y and heavy, or stung my eyes when I sweat. Thankful that those days are now gone. I LOVE this stuff! I just used it on a trip to Mexico and it was flawless, but I'm continuing to use it daily to protect my mid-thirties skin. Goes on smooth, blends flawlessly, wears well throughout the day, and it doesn't feel like there's anything on my face at all. This one now has a permanent spot in my toiletries bag!
I've been looking for an SPF skin cream that feels good, smells good, looks good, and isn't full of chemicals for years. I've tried several and have never been happy. This cream is ALL of the above--I might be a bit biased as I love and regularly use the Kalkay cleansing bar and moisturizer as well as the Cranberry serum, and now I have a new product to love. I'm looking forward to summer even more now!

When I started SkwĂĄlwen I envisioned a creative path where I could bring my love of plants together with my love of skincare and also increase Indigenous storytelling and representation.
I am passionate about shifting the narratives connected to Indigenous People and situating SkwĂĄlwen at the intersection of luxury, clean, plant-based skincare offers an exciting way to do this. The brilliance of my ancestors is carried in our ongoing knowledge of plants, place, language and so much more and I'm grateful for the gift of being able to weave together Indigenous knowledge and relationships with elevated plant-based skincare offerings and our new SPF is a product I have dreamed about and worked hard on for years now.
It is a long road to bring a mineral SPF to market in Canada and I feel really proud of all of the care, work and attention that has gone into the project from the very start back in 2021. I will admit, I did not know just how much work and investment it would take but here we are on the other side and we are beyond excited to launch our new SPF. Rose is known as a plant medicine that can ease grief and gently renew our hearts and emotions.
Rose is also very gentle and calming topically and this new SPF feels very delicate and light just like rose petals feel against our skin. I can't wait for you to try this special product!
